If Epithalon is the four-residue (AEDG) signature peptide of the Khavinson bioregulator programme, Pinealon is the three-residue (EDR) one. Both came out of the same building at the St Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology under Vladimir Khavinson, both belong to the short-peptide bioregulator framework that has carried his lab's reputation for decades, and both are written about in the same Russian-language journals. What separates them at the bench is the residue count, the receptor and gene-expression footprint, and the research positioning. Epithalon work clusters around telomerase and pineal-axis longevity. Pinealon work clusters around neuronal viability under oxidative stress and cognitive readouts in rodent models.
The sequence is Glu-Asp-Arg (one-letter code EDR), CAS 175175-23-2, molecular formula C15H26N6O8, molecular weight 418.41 g/mol. Some vendor sheets quote the salt-form mass at 432.44 with formula C17H28N6O8; both belong to the same molecule, the lighter number being the free peptide and the heavier the acetate. Worth checking against your own assay before reading anything into a CoA digit.
The bit of the story most listings skip: Pinealon followed a different commercial path from Epithalamin (the parent injectable extract behind Epithalon). The St Petersburg group spun out Cytogen, a Russian company that marketed Pinealon and several other Khavinson tripeptides as oral bioregulator preparations rather than as injectables. That history is why most of the human-tolerability and pharmacokinetic data sit in Russian-language journals from the 2000s and 2010s, and why citation trails outside Russia rely heavily on the 2012 Khavinson "Peptides, Genome, and Aging" paper and Anisimov's later review work. For a UK lab building comparative work on the bioregulator family, knowing which papers come from which institutional pocket saves a lot of time.
The published in vitro and rodent work groups into three threads. Oxidative-stress survival is the largest, with cortical neuron and PC12 cultures used to look at viability under hydrogen peroxide or hypoxia challenge. Gene expression panels are the second, where EDR exposure has been reported to shift transcription of NOS isoforms, NGF, and a handful of stress-response genes in neural tissue. A smaller third thread looks at behavioural endpoints in aged rodents, including spatial learning and circadian markers. None of that is human protocol territory. It is the bench-side context a lab uses to design an in vitro question, and it is distinct from the telomerase-led literature people quote for Epithalon.
Our incoming lots run at 98 percent or better by reverse-phase HPLC, with mass spec confirming the EDR sequence to within 1 Da of the expected free-peptide mass. If a vial does not match its CoA when you run it in-house, we refund it. No restocking fee, no debate, no support runaround. We do not have to do that often, but the policy is real and the inbox that handles it is read by a person.
Every batch we list is synthesised by a UK or EU contract peptide manufacturer we have audited directly. We do not stock lots from unverified Asian sources, because the silent failure mode there is counter-ion variation or the occasional misidentified arginine, both of which quietly corrupt assay results before anyone notices. UK orders placed before late afternoon Monday to Thursday leave the same working day, and around nine in ten land inside 48 hours by tracked Royal Mail. For multi-arm protocols or longer time-courses needing ten vials or more from the same lot, message support for a quoted price rather than working through the cart. Live chat is staffed by humans during UK working hours.
Lyophilised Pinealon tolerates short transit at ambient temperature but should move to minus 20 C, desiccated and dark, on arrival for any storage beyond a working week. Bacteriostatic water reconstitutes it cleanly thanks to the polar EDR side chains; sterile water and standard aqueous buffers work too. Reconstituted solution holds reasonable peptide integrity for two to three weeks at 2 to 8 C in our internal stability runs. Aliquot before freezing if you expect repeat sampling. The glutamate and aspartate residues tolerate a freeze cycle but dislike repeated thaws.
